HFFS System Components and Flow Wrapper Parts

A horizontal form fill seal system coordinates product feeding, film forming, longitudinal sealing, end sealing and cutting. Understanding each component helps buyers specify a machine, diagnose performance limits and plan preventive maintenance.

How an HFFS Packaging System Works

  1. The infeed conveyor spaces and transports individual products.
  2. Rollstock film unwinds under controlled tension and passes through the forming box.
  3. Longitudinal sealing wheels create the fin or lap seal.
  4. End-sealing jaws seal between products and the cutter separates finished packs.
  5. Servo drives, sensors and the PLC synchronize product position, film registration and sealing motion.

Main HFFS Machine Components

Infeed Conveyor

Manual, chain, lugged or servo infeed controls product spacing and orientation before film forming.

Film Unwind & Tension Control

Supports the rollstock, manages film tension and helps maintain stable tracking at operating speed.

Forming Box

Shapes flat film around the product. Its geometry must match product dimensions and pack style.

Registration Sensor

Reads printed eye marks so graphics and cut positions remain aligned on registered film.

Fin-Seal Assembly

Pulls the film and produces the continuous longitudinal seal using heated wheels or sealing elements.

End-Sealing Jaws & Cutter

Creates transverse seals and separates packs. Jaw style depends on film, speed and product protection requirements.

Servo Drives, PLC & HMI

Coordinates film speed, jaw motion, temperature, recipe settings, alarms and operator controls.

Discharge & Optional Modules

May include date coding, gas flushing, hole punching, reject systems and downstream conveyors.

Maintenance and Replacement-Part Planning

Wear depends on film, temperature, speed and operating hours. A practical maintenance plan should cover sealing elements, cutter condition, belts, bearings, sensors, heaters and electrical spares. Record the machine model, serial number, part position and photographs before requesting support.

Important: This guide explains component functions for machine selection and maintenance. HYS does not sell HFFS parts separately; support and parts compatibility are handled only in relation to the relevant HYS machine configuration.
